OUR VISION

1. By 2050, the world population will have increased to around 10 billion inhabitants. This means that food demand will double at the very minimum.

2. Change in relative prices.

3. Today’s biggest investments in science and technology are focused on biotechnology.

4. Agriculture and livestock production represents the primary enable in value generation from biotechnology.

5. The greatest constraint on these industries is water.

6. Cultivatable farmland is an increasingly scarce asset.

7. The world is moving toward a contract-based agribusiness, with all the corresponding requirements.

8. Ethics and values are critical components of contracts (social, environmental and economic sustainability).

EL TEJAR believes that having a clear, understandable, and well-spread vision among its members is of vital importance. That way, guidelines related to where we are headed over the next few years are made explicit, which better facilitates the design and approval of annual plans.
