17/12/2008 - On Friday 5 December, CREA Roque Pérez Saladillo opened the gates of its San Miguel farm –in Saladillo-, once again, to producers, exhibitors and the community in general.
With 970 attendants and 40 companies which displayed their stands and advertisements, the meeting was a great success, and was declared of “Municipal Interest” by the executive power of the city of Saladillo.
In a sunny day, attendants were welcomed by Javier Sundblad, President of CREA organizer group, who stressed the importance of keeping agrifood production chain links united in difficult times. Critical situations can only be overcome by working as a team. Claudio Masaccesi, Chief of the Cabinet, on behalf of the Saladillo Mayor who was absent due to health reasons, expressed the local government support to this initiative.
The first exhibitors were Carlos Melconián who illustrated a thorough scenario of the international and national macroeconomic scene, and Daniel Miró who analyzed the grain market with a sight on the future.
The second part was in charge of agricultural producer Victor Giordana; agricultural and dairy producer Rafael Llorente and contractor and producer Mario Bustamante, who went through many crisis and obstacles related to the rural activity along their lives which could be overcome with effort, inventiveness and determination. Their message, specially to the young people, was to not to give up and move forward.
In their respective presentations, Martín Lizaso, member of the Liaison Committee of Daireaux; Germán Paats, President of the Rural Association of Tapalqué; and Oscar Alvarado, President of AACREA, expressed their opinion of what would be the role of the agricultural industry in the New Argentina. They all agree on the importance of taking active part in the institutions that represent the sector in order to generate changes that benefit agriculture.
During the evening, there were customary visits to farms where experts in different fields introduced new features and showed analyses of Soybean, Rape, Corn and Wheat crops. The meeting had its charitable side since the productive gastronomic works of the Cooperative Barrio La Juanita with its project “Masa Crítica” (“Critical Mass”), CARITAS Saladillo with its micro-entrepreneurship “Amasando Sonrisas” (“Kneading Smiles”), and the Sewing and Knitting Workshop San Francisco, displayed their products for sale. Moreover, the lunch was in aid of School Nº10 “Las Margaritas” of Saladillo and the portraits given to the panelists and exhibitors were made by a group of youngsters in their works of Barrio la Esperanza in Charata, Chaco.
Apart from the information gathered and technical knowledge shared, this meeting was an appeal for the CREA group for reflection and a proof that “Despite everything … the opportunity of making a better country” is everyone’s responsibility.
