01/12/2008 - The Social Ecunemical Forum has awarded the Argentine Network of Food Banks for its community development project and the creation of social capital.
In the Seventh Prize for the Charitable Entrepreneur, granted by the Social Ecunemical Forum, the Argentine Network of Food Banks* was awarded in the Food category for its project: “Community Development and social capital creation through Food Banks”.
EL TEJAR, as part of the Network Board, is very proud of the prize, which endorses the day-by-day work done in favor of the needy ones.
It is our wish that the Food Banks continue to develop in our country since we believe that a good nutrition, particularly during childhood, is essential to favor development and learning capacity.
(*) Argentine Network of Food Banks is a national organization that groups the 14 Food Banks existent in Argentina. These banks receive donations of foods apt for consumption and not for trade, and deliver them to institutions that help people with unmet needs, specially children. During 2006, the Network distributed 4,350,000 k of food, among 900 institutions that gather 130,000 children.
